Sailing Prep

I was excited about getting Orkia on the water. She was pressure washed and prepped for sailing. I had read different ways to raise the mast. I decided to try using the boom vang to assist in raising the mast. Dad and I worked on it and were finally successful. It worked much better than our previous attempt to raising the mast by pulling the shroud.

I also needed to try out my new homemade mast crutch. It was a little squirrelly, but it got the job done. Dad and I raised it twice and thus felt we were ready to go. I finished loading the boat so that i would be ready to pull out the following morning.
